Reflective Essays

These mini-essays are not graded on grammar or paragraph structure, but instead on the quality of reflection. The purpose is to force students to think about a given topic, such as their writing process, or how they have improved in an area. Reflective essays will be 300-500 words, double-spaced, written in Times or Times New Roman with 12pt font.

Reflective Essay 1: Due Friday October 14

Now that we have completed the Revision-Writing Process for the Diagnostic essay, it is time to reflect. Answer the following questions in at least 300 words. You will not be graded on grammar or paragraph structure, but instead on content and critical thinking. Think about all the steps of the Revision-Writing Process: Prewriting (Brainstorming), Outlining, Peer Review, Instructor Feedback. Which of these was most helpful for you? Which of these was least helpful? Why? What did you learn from this process? Were you pleased with the quality of your final draft? Is there anything you could have done differently? Is there anything the instructor could have done differently to help you? Do you think this writing process is important/necessary? Why/why not? Is there any topic that we have already covered in class that you would like to go over again? (i.e. thesis statement, paraphrasing, etc.) Feel free to add any additional thoughts, ideas or comments about this unit.
